Have a little look at the Official UK Top 40 . Do you see anything suspicious? The Top 5 is dominated by performers who have appeared on the ever popular TV talent show, X Factor. The album chart is just as bad.
Is this just a coincidence or is X Factor being used by these pop groups/stars as a platform to show off their new song/album? Pop stars who have been out of the limelight have blatantly used X Factor as a way to remind people who the they are. Whitney Houston, Robbie Williams and Queen are all guilty of this.
This is supposed to be a talent show for people who have a dream to be the next X Factor winner. However, it seems like it is just another way for people who are already famous to get more air time on TV. Even one of the judges, Cheryl Cole, used X Factor to show-off her new song and album ... Shouldn't she be looking after her contestants?
One thing that makes me want to search for the sick bucket, is the section of the show where the contestants meet the star of the week, who listens to their singing and then gives them advice. It is pretty obvious that they don't care how the contestants sing. However, I'd say that most viewers think, "Ooh isn't that nice, Robbie thinks Olly can sing, he is such a top bloke, that Robbie one." This is, I suppose, is good PR.
I look forward to hearing your comments!!
I worte a similar blog, I don't think it's bad that artists go and perform on the X-Factor since they know it's such a popular show. However, I don't think its a coinsidence that all artists that have performed on the X-Factor are not in top4!
ReplyDeleteAs for the twins, they are horrible when it comes down to voice, but I must admit myself, they are the most entertaining act. And Simon Cowell knows what he is doing, and he is keeping them in for the cash!
For X Factor marketing, Simon have to keep the twins in although they act like buffons. Also,I'm 99.99% sure about Top 5, it's not a coincidence.
ReplyDeleteBut I have to admit that if I were Simon, I'll keep the twins because that's what I have to operate for X Factor.
